Purpose of the Library of 100 Languages:
This project is built around the linguistic diversity of the citizens of Linz, with particular focus on language and culture, and not on the respective nation. The Library of 100 Languages is designed as a multicultural meeting place and a venue for events regarding the Language and Multiculturality theme. One of its prior objectives is to also reach those whose mother-tongue is not German.

Materials on loan:
All loaned materials are sorted by languages and can be read at the library only. Everyone loaning a book to the library will be asked to fill in a comment sheet regarding the book (to provide information about its contents, why it was selected, which passage in the book is particularly worthy of being read because it is romantic, amusing, sad, or connected to a personal experience) so as to offer visitors a very special and more personal insight with regard to each book.
Books can also be loaned to the library under a pseudonym.

Opening hours:
October 2 to November 30, 2009; Mon-Sat: 2pm-10pm, Sun: 10am-6pm.

Library concept:
The Library of 100 Languages is a non-circulating library: books can be read at the library only and not be checked out and taken home. On the ground floor of the library container, ten different daily foreign language newspapers are available.

Loaning/Returning of books:
Each person loaning a book to the library will, in exchange for the book, be given a receipt containing a serial number and the book's title. Books can be picked up again between December 1 and 31 at the counter of the Landesbibliothek (Library for the Province of Upper Austria) against the presentation of said receipt.

Insurance of books:
Each book on loan is covered by insurance based on its current value. If a book is damaged or lost while in the library, then its owner will receive a compensation of between EUR 10 and 40, based on its current value.
