1941 schließt er sich der Résistance an und flieht nach Südfrankreich. Neben E. Ionesco gilt Beckett als wichtigster Vertreter des "Theaters des Absurden" und als einer der bedeutendsten Schriftsteller des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts. 1969 wurde er mit dem Nobelpreis ausgezeichnet.

Welcome to the website of the Libary of 100 Languages!

The Library of 100 Languages is a project for the year in which Linz is European Capital of Culture, scheduled for the period between October 2 and November 30 in the library container at Schillerplatz square.

Especially citizens of Linz with a migratory background, that is, roughly one fourth of this city's population, are invited to provide books on loan in their respective mother-tongue. This "language treasure trove" is meant to reflect reading habits, offer insights into mostly strange worlds, and above all become a strong signal for a multicultural Capital of Culture.

This project will also include a series of accompanying events focusing specifically on children and teenagers and involving the linguistic communities of Linz.

Opening ceremony: October 2, Landesbibliothek OÖ (Schillerplatz 2).

Materials we need: all types of books, paperbacks, and magazines in any language.

Insurance: Each loaned item (whether book, paperback, or magazine) is insured based on its current value (up to 40 euros)
