Bibliothek der 100 Sprachen

Welcome to the website of the Libary of 100 Languages!

The Library of 100 Languages is a project for the year in which Linz is European Capital of Culture, scheduled for the period between October 2 and November 30 in the library container at Schillerplatz square.

Especially citizens of Linz with a migratory background, that is, roughly one fourth of this city's population, are invited to provide books on loan in their respective mother-tongue. This "language treasure trove" is meant to reflect reading habits, offer insights into mostly strange worlds, and above all become a strong signal for a multicultural Capital of Culture.

Loan us one book in your mother-tongue and make the Library of 100 Languages a strong signal for a multicultural Capital of Culture!

This project will also include a series of accompanying events focusing specifically on children and teenagers and involving the linguistic communities of Linz.

Library of the 100 languages

Text in Deutsch

Lend us a book in your native language and that way make the "Library of 100 languages" a distinctive symbol for a multicultural cultural capital.

We are interested in individual details to each book: Who brings it to us, where it is from, which section has particular importance for you (see tearable bookmark on the back).
